Disaster Responsiveness

The Group for Technical Assistance (GTA), with support from Give2Asia, carried out a series of disaster relief and management initiatives across various regions of Nepal to address the devastating impacts of landslides and floods.

Taplejung
On July 10, 2021, GTA, in collaboration with Give2Asia, organized a relief distribution program in Meringden Rural Municipality, Taplejung. In addition to providing relief materials, the program also included an orientation on fire disaster prevention and management, focusing on educating the local community about essential safety measures and effective emergency response strategies.

Bhotekoshi
In Bhotekoshi, GTA conducted an orientation program for Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) on January 12-13, 2021, to share critical disaster and health information with communities affected by floods and landslides. Furthermore, on February 17, 2021, GTA held a capacity-building program for local disaster management committee members in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk District, strengthening the community's readiness for future disaster events.

Barhabise
On January 31, 2021, a disaster relief distribution program was conducted in Nagpuje (Ward No. 7) and Gati (Ward No. 6) of Barhabise Municipality. Relief materials were provided to households affected by the floods and landslides. In addition, WASH kits were distributed to promote menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls and women in Nagpuje (Ward No. 7). This initiative was also supported by Give2Asia.

Melamchi
On June 19, 2021, GTA organized a relief distribution program for survivors of the floods and landslides in Melamchi Municipality, ensuring the affected communities received essential supplies to cope with the disaster's aftermath.

These response efforts underscore GTA's ongoing commitment to assisting disaster-impacted communities across Nepal, offering not just immediate relief but also long-term initiatives to build community resilience and preparedness for future emergencies.
