Research and Data Analytics Unit
Partner: Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center, Manmohan Memorial Hospital, Kathmandu
Model Hospital
Status: On-going
Objectives: The project aims to establish hospital-based data collection systems to support
clinical decision-making, enhance patient management, and enable healthcare research across
cardiology, gynecology, and internal medicine departments. By integrating systematic data
collection into routine hospital workflows, the project seeks to generate high-quality, real-time
data that can be used to inform evidence-based care, identify treatment trends, and strengthen
hospital research capacity. Dedicated Research Associates are deployed at each site to facilitate
data collection, ensure quality control, and support the seamless integration of data into hospital
records and research platforms.
Outcomes: As of August 2024, data collection began at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center
through the CathPCI Registry, focusing on tracking patient history, cardiac procedures, and
treatment outcomes to enhance cardiac care decision-making. In January 2025, Manmohan
Memorial Hospital initiated gynecology data digitization, aimed at improving patient
supervision, documentation accuracy, and care quality. Preparations are also underway at
Kathmandu Model Hospital to launch data collection in the Medicine Ward, focusing on
optimizing internal medicine patient management. Across all sites, Research Associates play a
critical role in ensuring data accuracy, validation, and integration into clinical and research
workflows, laying the foundation for data-driven clinical improvements and enhanced research
capacity.
