Wound and Burn Infections and Associated Pathogen Resistance: A Hospital-Based Intervention to Promote Stewardship and Appropriate Care Modalities in Kathmandu and Pokhara
This project focused on adapting and evaluating a hospital-based antimicrobial stewardship program specifically targeting wound and burn care. It involved conducting a six-month laboratory surveillance project to document cultured organisms and susceptibility data. The data gathered was used to update and adapt existing clinical practice guidelines. Additionally, the project included the development, implementation, and evaluation of an Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Steward training-of-trainers program. As part of the initiative, the Post Prescription Review and Feedback (PPRF) program for burn and wound care was implemented and evaluated in the study wards to improve care and outcomes. It was carried out in the hospitals of Kathmandu and Pokhara.
