A Socio-Cultural and Economic Assessment of Antibiotic Dispensing Practices Among Community-Based Pharmacists
This assessment sought to increase the understanding of antibiotic dispensing practices among community pharmacists in Nepal. The survey of 111 pharmacists across 5 districts near Kathmandu Valley was conducted to explore pharmacists' knowledge and perspectives on AMR, community-based stewardship programs, and training. It also examined the socio-cultural and economic factors influencing antibiotic dispensing practices within local communities. Furthermore, the assessment identified potential barriers and facilitators to the implementation of stewardship and training programs aimed at reducing antibiotic use, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for improving antibiotic management and awareness in community settings. It was conducted with support from Henry Ford Health Global Health Initiative, USA.
