Strengthening Antimicrobial Stewardship through Collaboration
From 8th to 16th August, we had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Harriet on the second phase of the Practitioner Engagement Program (PEP) in Nepal.
On 14th August, we hosted a workshop with veterinarians from the Kathmandu Valley to share key findings from PEP and highlight the progress achieved so far. It was inspiring to witness both government and private veterinarians actively participating, demonstrating their dedication to improving veterinary practices and tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The workshop focused on:
- Identifying underlying challenges in veterinary practices
- Reviewing progress and key learnings from PEP
- Brainstorming practical interventions veterinarians can implement with farmers to encourage better practices
We also shared the draft of IEC materials on vaccination, antimicrobial administration, brooding, and water sanitation. The participants engaged actively, offering valuable feedback to make these resources more practical and impactful for farmers.
Discussions around antimicrobial stewardship and the One Health approach were particularly engaging. It is truly encouraging to see how collaboration among professionals can drive meaningful change for animal health, human health, and the environment.
Let’s continue this journey of awareness and action!
