Breaking Silos, Building Resilience: January Knowledge Café on One Health
As part of GTA Foundation’s ongoing Knowledge Café Learning Series, the January session was held on 30th January 2026 at the GTA Foundation Office, bringing together participants for an enriching and reflective learning experience.
The session was led by Dr. Surendra Karki, Veterinarian and Epidemiologist, currently serving as Livestock and One Health Advisor and Team Leader at the Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD), FAO Nepal, who joined us as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Karki shared valuable insights on the theme “Breaking Silos: One Health as a Way Forward for Global Health Security,” emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration across sectors to effectively address complex and evolving health threats. His presentation highlighted how integrating human, animal, and environmental health perspectives can enhance disease prevention, improve surveillance systems, and strengthen overall global health resilience.
Overall, the January Knowledge Café provided a meaningful platform for dialogue, learning, and collective thinking around advancing the One Health approach for sustainable health security.
