Every Breathe Counts, Every Baby Matters.
We are pleased to share the successful completion of Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) Training for Health Care Providers, conducted on 14 August 2026 in Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province, and 18 August 2026 at Hotel Anjani Suites, Janakpur, Madhesh Province.
The training brought together dedicated health care workers from different hospitals, health posts, and Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs), with the aim of strengthening their knowledge, confidence, and practical skills in essential newborn care and neonatal resuscitation.
The training included interactive learning sessions, demonstrations, hands-on manikin practice with a particular focus on recognizing newborns who are not breathing well, the Golden Minute, effective bag-and-mask ventilation, assessment of breathing and heart rate, decision-making during resuscitation, newborn monitoring, and infection prevention through appropriate instrument disinfection and hand washing.
Our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Prerana Kansakar, whose expertise and guidance greatly contributed to the hands-on learning experience.
This training is an important step toward building a skilled and confident health workforce capable of providing timely and effective care to newborns at birth and ultimately contributing to the reduction of preventable newborn deaths from birth asphyxia in Nepal.
