GTA Foundation Trains Research Assistants for Veterinary AMR Endline Survey

GTA Foundation successfully conducted an orientation program for Research Assistants (RAs) in preparation for the Endline Survey of the project, “Antimicrobial Stewardship Program for Veterinary Service Providers and Farming Communities in Nepal,” on September 3, 2026, at the GTA Office, Sanepa. This project aims to address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance in the animal health sector through a One Health approach. The study focuses on promoting appropriate antimicrobial use and strengthening antimicrobial stewardship practices among veterinary service providers and farming communities.

The orientation provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship, data collection tools and procedures, REDCap, and field implementation plans. The session also included mock interviews and discussions to strengthen the RAs' preparedness for field data collection.

The orientation was facilitated by Dr. Linda Kaljee, Senior Scientist at Henry Ford Health; Tyler Prentiss, Senior Program Manager at Henry Ford Health; and Lalita Awal, Intervention, Research and Development Officer at GTA Foundation.

Through this collaborative effort, the project seeks to generate evidence on the effectiveness of context-specific AMR education, training, and stewardship interventions and contribute towards promoting responsible antimicrobial use in Nepal's livestock sector.
